During the first trimester of pregnancy, which lasts from week 1 to week 12, your body undergoes
significant changes as it adapts to support the developing embryo. Please note that each pregnancy is
unique, and symptoms can vary from woman to woman. Additionally, some women may not experience
all of these symptoms, and some might be more pronounced than others. Here, is a general overview of
first-trimester pregnancy symptoms week by week:

Week 1-4:

You may not know you are pregnant during the first week, as conception usually occurs in week 2. Some women may experience light spotting or implantation bleeding around the time of the missed period.

Week 5:

Missed period:

This is often the first sign that prompts women to take a pregnancy test.

Fatigue:

You might feel extremely tired and sleepy due to hormonal changes.

Nausea:

Morning sickness can begin, though it can occur at any time of day. It may be accompanied by vomiting or just a feeling of queasiness.

Week 6:

Tender breasts:

Your breasts may become sensitive, swollen, or tingly.

Increased urination:

You may notice more frequent trips to the bathroom. As of week 6 uterus remains in the pelvic region and starts increasing in size gradually.

Week 7-8:

Morning sickness:

Nausea and vomiting may become more pronounced for some women.

Food aversions/cravings:

You might develop strong dislikes or preferences for certain foods. Smell sensitivity: Your sense of smell may become heightened, and certain odors may trigger nausea.

Week 9-10:

  • Continued fatigue and morning sickness.
  • Mood swings: Hormonal fluctuations can lead to emotional changes like mood swings.

Week 11-12:

Visible belly changes:

Some women may notice a slight bump or thickening around the waistline.

Decreased nausea:

For some women, morning sickness improves around week 12.

Throughout the first trimester, you might experience other symptoms like headaches, constipation, dizziness, and heightened emotions. It is important to remember that if you suspect you are pregnant or experience any symptoms,  go for a pregnancy test and schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider to confirm the pregnancy and receive proper prenatal care.

Remember that some symptoms may continue or change during the second trimester, while
others may fade away as you enter the second trimester. Always consult with your healthcare provider
